Tianyu is a dispute resolution lawyer with a focus in international arbitration and alternative disputes resolution. His practice also spans over international infrastructure and construction projects, energy and natural resources, mining, manufacture, international trade, and cross-border investment.

A native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English, Tianyu has represented and advised clients in international arbitrations under the rules of the major international arbitration institutions, such as ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA and CIETAC.

  • Advising a China State-owned mining company in an HKIAC arbitration seated in Hong Kong regarding disputes arising from a share purchase agreement and a shareholders agreement for a mega acquisition of mining assets in an African country. The amount in dispute is over US$1 billion.
  • Representing a China state-owned oil and gas company in a Hong Kong-seated arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules regarding disputes arising from a series of loan agreements for a mega acquisition of oil and gas assets in an African country.   • Representing a China state-owned engineering company in a SIAC arbitration seated in Singapore regarding a dispute arising from a share purchase agreement for the acquisition of a national power distribution company and a national power sales company of a mid-east country.
