On 26 June 2024, Assegaf Hamzah & Partners (“AHP“), in collaboration with Rajah & Tann Asia, hosted the 2024 Regional Sustainability Conference with the theme “Global Forces, Local Futures: Geopolitics and the Green Transition” in Jakarta, Indonesia. The conference gathered experts from across Southeast Asia to discuss the pressing legal and regulatory issues surrounding sustainability.
Achieving a sustainable transition is definitely a challenge, but it is something that the world is actively working towards. The conference featured two main panel discussions: (i) Geopolitical Landscape and Impact on Sustainable Transition; and (ii) New Opportunities and Challenges for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Green Economy. A common theme was the essential need for collaboration at all levels of society for a sustainable green transition.
The panellists included Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf (Managing Partner, AHP), Ng Kim Beng (Deputy Managing Partner, Rajah & Tann Singapore), and Sandy Foo (Deputy Head of Corporate and Transactional Group, Rajah & Tann Singapore).
