To allow applicants to continue to leverage on the ASEAN Patent Examination Co-operation (“ASPEC“) ASPEC AIM to fast track their Industry 4.0 inventions in the ASEAN region, the ASPEC AIM Pilot Programme will be extended for an additional two years till 26 August 2025. Applicants will continue to benefit from a committed turnaround time of six months to receive the first office action. A cap of 50 applications per year remains.
ASPEC was launched on 15 June 2009. It is the regional patent work-sharing programme among nine participating ASEAN Member States IP Offices of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Applicants may use the search and examination reports of participating IP Offices to accelerate the patenting process in any one of the other participating IP Offices.
ASPEC AIM is a programme under ASPEC in which there is a committed turnaround time of six months to receive the first office action if an ASPEC request is made for Industry 4.0 patent applications.
