  • Rajah & Tann Singapore Strengthens China team with Appointment of Leading Lawyer in International Arbitration, Construction & Projects

We are excited to welcome Michelle Li to the Rajah & Tann Asia family as the new Head of International Arbitration, Construction & Projects (China) at our Shenzhen Representative Office. She takes over from Hew Kian Heong, who now heads the Shenzhen Representative office.

Michelle brings over 20 years of experience in construction and infrastructure disputes, advising Chinese and international clients on complex contracts, claims, disputes and transactional matters across diverse sectors including energy, chemicals, mining, rail and power generation.

A specialist in EPC contracts and concession-based agreements, Michelle is focused on supporting Chinese outbound clients in navigating projects in the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Southeast Asia. On the contentious side, she brings exceptional experience in arbitration, litigation and mediation across Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Mainland China, where she is a panel arbitrator for over 10 arbitration institutions.

Notably, Michelle is widely recognised by leading legal directories where she was recognised as the Winner of the Real Estate and Construction Lawyer of the Year Award (Foreign Firm) in Legal 500’s China Award 2024 and is a proud sole recipient of Lexology’s Client Choice Award for Arbitration in China for both 2024 and 2025.

With her unparalleled expertise and deep understanding of the Chinese market, we strongly believe Michelle will further strengthen our ability to deliver market-leading solutions for China-related disputes.

We look forward to her contributions to our China practice and the wider Rajah & Tann Asia network!
