MEDIA RELEASE
Singapore, 19 March 2025 – Rajah & Tann Singapore is proud to announce its selection as a founding member of the Commonwealth Pro Bono Centre (“CPBC”), a landmark initiative launched by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA). This programme aims to enhance access to justice by providing critical legal expertise to least developed Commonwealth countries.
The CPBC will facilitate international pro bono support through a select panel of leading law firms, addressing legal capability gaps in nations classified by the United Nations as least developed.
Rajah & Tann Singapore is honoured to be among the six pioneering firms across the Commonwealth chosen for this critical endeavour. Being selected for this inaugural panel underscores the firm’s commitment to global pro bono service and its recognised legal expertise.
“We are deeply honoured to be a founding member of the Commonwealth Pro Bono Centre,” said Mr Patrick Ang, Managing Partner of Rajah & Tann Singapore. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our firm’s dedication to promoting access to justice and utilising our legal expertise to make a positive impact on a global scale. We are committed to working alongside the Commonwealth Secretariat and the CLA to build legal capacity and support those in need.”
The CPBC will focus on providing technical legal expertise to countries facing significant challenges in developing their legal infrastructure. Rajah & Tann Singapore’s involvement will include offering pro bono legal services and contributing to capacity-building efforts within the Commonwealth.
“This is a significant opportunity for our firm to contribute to the development of legal systems and to support communities across the Commonwealth,” said Gregory Vijayendran, SC. “We are excited to collaborate with the other founding members and the Commonwealth Secretariat to advance this important mission.”
Rajah & Tann Singapore is proud to be a part of this vital initiative and looks forward to contributing its expertise and resources to support its success.
