S$2.2 Million Recovery Action relating to property damage at Marina Bay Sands

Acted for the insurers in a High Court recovery action relating to damage to the fibre cables which formed part of the closed-circuit television system used to conduct surveillance at the casino within Marina Bay Sands (“MBS“), one of the two integrated resorts in Singapore. This case raised the novel issue of the scope of duty of care which an owner or operator of a carpark owes its visitors and the complex issue of the standard of care to be exercised in designing and building private carparks. Partners Wang Ying Shuang and Alvin Ee from the Insurance & Reinsurance practice led the case.
