Resisted anti-suit injunctions pertaining to a joint venture between a Singapore public-listed company and a Cambodian public-listed company

Acted for Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ Plc, a Cambodian public-listed company, who entered into a joint venture with a Singapore public-listed company to construct and operate electricity generation facilities for a special economic zone in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The case was commercially significant especially in Cambodia, as it would have entailed a restraint upon the Royal Group of companies in operating its businesses – the Royal Group being Cambodia’s largest diversified conglomerate and investment holding company, and one of the largest drivers of Cambodia’s economy. The Singapore High Court application proceeded for half a year before it was eventually resolved by way of amicable settlement.

Partner Tng Sheng Rong, from the Commercial Litigation practice, led the case together with Associate Nikolas Tong, from the International Arbitration practice.
