Acting for a group of banks in Singapore, who are major creditors of Agritrade International Pte Ltd (“AIPL”).
AIPL committed the fraud by, amongst other methods, (a) printing and producing fake bills of lading to convince the banks that the banks were financing real shipments of palm oil (b) using related offshore companies to act as buyers/sellers of the palm oil so that these illicit trades could go undetected. The total value / quantum of the fraud committed by AIPL was well in excess of US$1 billion.
