Kendista is a specialist in international dispute resolution, with extensive experience in arbitrations conducted under the BANI, ICC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL Rules. He regularly advises clients on complex cross-border disputes, particularly those involving Indonesian parties, helping them navigate legal, commercial and enforcement risks across multiple jurisdictions.

Before joining Rajah & Tann Singapore, Kendista served as a Director and Senior Associate at a Dutch law firm and as Counsel at SIAC. During his tenure at SIAC, he administered and supervised hundreds of arbitrations under the SIAC and UNCITRAL Rules, managing all stages of proceedings from the filing of claims and constitution of tribunals to the scrutiny of draft awards. His experience encompasses disputes involving parties from over 40 jurisdictions across a broad range of sectors and governing laws.

Prior to SIAC, Kendista practised with leading dispute resolution firms in Indonesia, representing domestic and international clients in complex commercial and investment disputes.

Kendista also has experience serving as an arbitrator, having been appointed as a sole arbitrator by SIAC in ad hoc proceedings under Singapore law. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is admitted to the Indonesian Bar. 

EXPERIENCE

International Arbitration

  • Representing an Indonesian State enterprise in an ICC arbitration in Paris, in a dispute concerning the construction of a series of apartment blocks in Africa.
  • Representing an Indonesian conglomerate in a series of BANI and SIAC arbitrations arising from the construction and subsequent operation of a luxury resort in Indonesia.
  • Representing an Indonesian State enterprise in a SIAC arbitration in Singapore, in a dispute over the exercise of a call and put option in a joint venture agreement.
  • Representing an Indonesian conglomerate in a SIAC arbitration in Singapore, in a dispute with a German technology company concerning an IT project.
  • Representing an Indonesian conglomerate in a SIAC arbitration in Singapore, in a dispute with a South Korean conglomerate concerning the sale and purchase of commodities.
  • Representing an Indonesian company in an ICC arbitration in Singapore, in a dispute concerning the construction of one of the largest geothermal power plants in Indonesia.
  • Representing an Indonesian company in a BANI arbitration in Jakarta, in a dispute concerning the construction of a greenfield sterile facility under a FIDIC Red Book contract.
