  • Rajah & Tann Singapore Welcomes Scott Tan as Partner in International Arbitration

Singapore, 20 July 2026 – Rajah & Tann Singapore is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Tan as Partner in its International Arbitration practice.

Scott joins the firm from the Singapore Attorney-General’s Chambers, where he was the Director of the International Disputes Practice Group in the International Affairs Division. In that role, he led on matters relating to Singapore’s international dispute resolution practice and policy, including proceedings before the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the World Trade Organization dispute settlement system, and investment arbitration tribunals.

With deep experience in public international law, Scott has represented Singapore in various bilateral and multilateral trade, investment, and diplomatic negotiations – including the upgrade of the China–Singapore Free Trade Agreement (signed 2023) and the EFTA–Singapore Digital Economy Agreement (signed 2025) – and served as a delegate to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He has also advised on a broad range of issues involving international trade and investment law, the law of the sea, sovereign immunity, state responsibility, and the law of armed conflict.

Before joining the International Affairs Division, Scott served in various roles within the Singapore Legal Service, including as Special Assistant to Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Assistant Registrar / District Judge, Justices’ Law Clerk, and Deputy Public Prosecutor.
