IPOS Announces Initiatives to Help Enterprises Leverage Intangible Assets and Intellectual Property

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS“) announced a series of initiatives at the launch of IP Week @ SG 2025. The initiatives seek to help enterprises leverage intellectual property (“IP“) and intangible assets (“IA“), and include the following:

  1. Franchising and licensing: IPOS and the Franchising and Licensing Association (“FLA“) will partner to help enterprises access practical IP guidance sessions that will equip them with IP protection and commercialisation know-how. Enterprises can also leverage FLA’s franchising and licensing networks to scale internationally.

  2. Intangibles disclosure framework: The Intangibles Disclosure Framework report, which discloses critical technology and customer-related intangibles, has been published under the auspices of the Foundational Intangibles Disclosure (“FIND“) programme. FIND aims to develop benchmark reports to guide businesses in sharing structured information about their IA.

  3. IA valuation: The Singapore Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, along with other international parties, is seeking public feedback on proposed IA valuation guidelines, which aims to provide a trusted, consistent approach to valuing IA.

  4. Learning and development: The Enterprise IP Community will be launched later in 2025 to facilitate peer learning, mentorship and best practices sharing. Enterprises can also tap on GoBusiness IP Grow, an online platform to improve accessibility to IP services for enterprises.

Parties interested in learning more about the above initiatives and how they may better leverage their IP and IA should feel free to contact our team set out on this page.
