On 19 May 2023, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction issued Prakas No. 083 on the Abrogation of Prakas No. 087 on Land Development (“Prakas No. 083”) to effectively abrogate Prakas No. 087 on Land Development dated 11 May 2018 (“Prakas No. 087”).
It should be noted that Prakas No. 087 was initially issued to manage and regulate any form of land development (including development, amalgamation or consolidation of land lots for sale and/or construction of residential, industrial, and commercial developments). Under Prakas No. 087, any person who wished to carry out land development was required to apply for and obtain a land development permit from the competent authority.
By virtue of this Prakas No. 083, land development permits and the relevant requirements and processes in relation thereof as provided for under Prakas No. 087 are no longer imposed. The obligation to seek relevant approvals for land development remains and are set out in other applicable regulations in force.
