Rajah & Tann is also committed to reaching out to the less fortunate at the ground level, contributing our time and energy over and beyond monetary donations. As part of the firm’s commitment to reach out to the less fortunate beyond monetary donations, we actively engage in charitable activities and social projects that contribute to worthy causes throughout the year.

This provides opportunities for members of the Rajah & Tann family to contribute in a personal and meaningful way. Lawyers and staff alike plan and take part in these activities, providing a hands-on contribution to the chosen cause.

We look forward to bringing Rajah & Tann’s personal brand of passion and care to even more of those in need.

Community Outreach

Blister Medication Packaging Service

The Rajah & Tann Foundation has chosen to support the Blister Medication Packaging service. This service is organised by the Society of Moral Charities, and aims to help elderly patients from non-compliance with their medication.

Non-compliance with medication is a common problem amongst the elderly in Singapore. Many elderly patients are confused by the different types, frequency and dosages of their medicines, especially if they cannot understand the labels which are written in English, or in small fonts. Furthermore, elderly people who stay alone at home or whose caregivers are not with them most of the time face a higher tendency of forgetting to take their medicine at the appropriate times of the day.

The weekly Blister Medication Packaging service at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital checks medicines for duplication and contraindications. The medicines are then consolidated and packed according to the time of day at which they are meant to be consumed. These will then be delivered to the homes of the beneficiaries.

This programme aims to benefit elderly who are 55 years old and above, especially those with medication non-compliance issues and suffering from multiple chronic diseases. It targets to reach 200 elderly in a year, and to improve the medication compliance and standard of living of these beneficiaries.

Kwa Geok Choo Professorship in Property Law

The Rajah & Tann Foundation has contributed to the Kwa Geok Choo Professorship in Property Law, established by the National University of Singapore. The Professorship will be supported by an endowed fund, and the tenure of each appointment will be three years.

The National University of Singapore aims to honour the memory of Madam Kwa Geok Choo through initiatives that will significantly benefit the legal fraternity and less privileged Singaporeans, a reflection of her longstanding concern that no deserving student should be deprived of a good legal education because of financial need.

The late Madam Kwa was a distinguished alumnus of the university and eminent conveyancing lawyer.

Project Schools

The Rajah & Tann Foundation has partnered with the Law Society of Singapore to sponsor the launch of Project Schools. The purpose of Project Schools is to create a greater awareness of the law, its relevance, and applications amongst our youth.

Under this Project, students in secondary schools and other educational institutes will be taught laws on criminal activities such as gangs and rioting, domestic violence, cyber offences and illegal moneylending activities. Students will also learn about the key figures in the administration of justice in Singapore, particularly that of the Juvenile Justice System.

Two schools were involved in the pilot project which preceded the launch. Another fourteen schools will be involved this year, expanding to more than sixty schools by next year.
