Acquisition of Hiep Thanh group of Vietnamese Companies

This is a cross-border deal in which the Singapore and Vietnam member firms of the Rajah & Tann Asia network (namely Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP and Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers in Vietnam) acted for KMP Private Limited in the acquisition of a substantial stake in the Hiep Thanh group of Vietnamese companies. The aggregate value of the deal is approximately US$37 million.

The Vietnamese companies are in the businesses of rice milling and processing as well as fish and animal feed processing. The acquisition enabled KMP Private Limited (which is part of the Salim Group, an Indonesian conglomerate) to venture into the rice and seafood industries in Vietnam.

The partners involved are Goh Kian Hwee, Cheng Yoke Ping and Cynthia Goh from the Capital Markets / M&A Practice of Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP as well as Brian Ng and Que Vu of Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers. The other lawyers involved in the deal are Koh Choon Yee of Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP and Giao Nguyen and Hau Pham of Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers.
