Most Responsive Firm

In-house counsels in Asia and the Middle East voted Rajah & Tann LLP as one of two most responsive local law firms in Singapore.

In the latest survey by the Asian-MENA Counsel, a Hong Kong-based magazine, over 18,000 in-house counsels and senior corporate managers from 10 jurisdictions representing corporate Asia and Middle-East, were asked for their comments on the quality and value of service they received from external counsel in their jurisdiction, and which firms they prefer to use for various activities.

Rajah & Tann was also voted the leading firm in four practice areas and received honourable mentions in another four categories. It came out top in insurance, maritime and shipping, real estate/construction, and restructuring and insolvency. It received honourable mentions in capital markets, international arbitration, litigation and dispute resolution, and telecommunications, media and technology.

Lee Eng Beng, SC, Managing Partner, Rajah & Tann, said: “We are grateful to our clients, the in-house counsels in the region, for giving us a big vote of confidence in the latest survey. We derive a great deal of satisfaction from being voted as the most responsive domestic law firm for the second consecutive year. This complements other similar accolades we have been receiving, such as the IFLR editorial which described Rajah & Tann's service as 'very accessible, 24/7' and a firm where 'deals are cooked over the weekend'. It goes without saying that client satisfaction is our highest priority and the best definition of our success".

The survey participants comprised heads of legal and compliance, general counsels and senior counsels, as well as CEOs and CFOs in over 10 industries that ranged from financial services to energy to manufacture and retail.

Rajah & Tann’s responsiveness to clients’ needs includes keeping them updated on current legal affairs, such as landmark judgments and key legislative changes. Towards this end, it has in place a platform of contact and distribution points by email, regular newsletters, iPhone and iPad apps and seminars and workshops.

Rajah & Tann is among the largest law firm in Singapore and South East Asia and provides a full range of legal services. In the last two years, the firm has expanded in the region, adding new offices to its network. It has regional offices in Singapore, China, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand, as well as associate offices in Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia, and regional desks focussing on Japan, South Asia and Myanmar.

And to add breadth to its significant reach around the region, Rajah & Tann is also a member firm of the Lex Mundi Network. Mr Lee said: “This allows us to tap into excellent legal expertise in more than 100 countries including countries where we do not have offices, thereby providing clients with a truly global reach.”

Rajah & Tann has won numerous accolades from leading law publications including being ranked among the world’s top 30 arbitration practice by London-based Global Arbitration Review (GAR). Chambers Global, International Financial Law Review, Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Asia Law Profiles are some of the publications that have ranked Rajah & Tann’s lawyers as leading practitioners in numerous areas such as corporate, banking, shipping, dispute resolution, insolvency, and technology.
